Kona Coffee Villas’ seven concrete buildings sit in Holualoa, 8 miles south of Kailua-Kona’s downtown at an elevation of 1500 feet.
The community was built in three phases that were completed respectively in September 1980 (60 units), January 1981 (48 units) and May 1981 (68 units). The two bedroom condos have interiors of 840 to 888 Sq Ft with one lanai exterior. Ground floor units have a backyard space, some of which are fenced-in.
Each residence has one assigned carport space for their parking. The carport roofs hold the PV system’s solar panels that power the common areas and heat the pool. Ceiling fans are a standard feature, which almost all residents solely rely on due to the lower temperatures up here. Washer/Dryer is inside every condo.
Most of the units have excellent ocean views, many of them partial, but wide-angle.
Amenities & Things To Do You live here in a more rural environment, with coffee farms and green spaces all around you. Many of the buildings, especially the shops and restaurants, are the wooden Old Hawaii plantation style, both across
Holualoa and in
Kainaliu, just under a mile south of you. While many love living away from the busier, more developed parts of Kona, that does mean the coastline is a longer trip to reach.
Fortunately, the nearest beach, at 6 miles northward, is a good one –
Kahaluu Beach Park. It’s not the best for sand lovers, but it is one of the best snorkeling spots on the Big Island. The reef area is filled with schools of colorful fish, sea turtles and even octopus. The surfing is great here also. Though the waves aren’t huge, they’re just right to learn on and this is where many riders got their start.
Your own property also offers a lot, so you may not even need to leave sometimes. There’s a heated pool and hot tub, along with a tennis court and a full basketball court, all of them not far from your front door.
