Makani Sands is a beachfront community in Honokowai, with residences that are within 20 yards of the ocean.
These one and two bedroom condos have interiors of 598 to 1,707 Sq Ft with one or two lanais exterior. The lanai spaces are large, the smallest being 112 Sq Ft on the one bedrooms’ single lanai to 320 Sq Ft over the pair of lanais on the largest two bedroom.
There are eighteen of the one bedroom layouts, all on the first and second floor. That leaves twelve two bedrooms. Two of the two bedrooms are single level layouts, one each on the first and second floor. The other ten two bedrooms are on the third floor, all of them two-story with an additional den on their lower level and lanais on both floors. The upstairs holds both bedrooms. In some cases, the den is used as a third bedroom. In addition, these third floor townhomes all have sunken living rooms.
Each unit has one unassigned, uncovered parking space to use. Ceiling fans are in all living areas and bedrooms, with some owners having installed split a/c systems as well. Washer/Dryer is inside of every condo. The building does have an elevator for those residents on the upper floors.
A solar pv system provides some of the electricity for the common areas.
All of these condos have completely unobstructed ocean views, with the possible exception of the tiki torches that are a minimal issue for the first floor residents.
Amenities & Things To Do The coastal side of the building has a lawn area that transitions to a concrete deck area with lounge chairs and tables, lit by tiki torches at night. Residents come out here to lounge in the sun of the day or watch the evening ocean. A few feet below the edge of the seawall is a sandy beach to sit back on or to get right into the ocean. The bed of the ocean is sandy, so you and any little ones can play in it or just take a leisurely swim. A little further out is the reef, which protects this shore, but also is the home for all kinds of undersea life. Come out with your snorkeling gear and you can take in the tropical fish and possibly a sea turtle or two in their natural habitat.
South of you just 350 yards is
Honokowai Beach Park, which has much of the same calmer conditions in its waters as at home, but it offers a large on-shore recreation space. Two playgrounds are here for the kids in the large open, grassy area, with large shade trees if you need cover. There are also picnic tables and BBQs for grilling up lunch or dinner.
