Kamehame Ridge homes is located in one of those neighborhoods that you have to go looking for to find. Not only is it up a hillside, it's set far from any roads that someone 'passing through' would use. Above them is only the upscale
Napali Haweo homes, which are higher in both elevation and price. The best way to place it is to say that it's behind, but right in line with the west side of Koko Head crater.
That positioning is crucial, because it's kept the views south to the ocean unblocked by the towering cone. The vertical heights of Kamehame Ridge bring much of the natural, and artificial, beauty of the area right to you, too.
Make your home on the west side of the ridge and you'll look out on the marina and central Hawaii Kai. If your house is on the east, you can take in the waves heading into
Sandy Beach. From up here it's an embarrassment of visual riches.
Kamehame Ridge houses didn't exist until the early 1980's when these properties were finally developed. The approximately 200 homes you see today were almost all built between 1982 and 1988.
These aren't template houses, though. Drive the streets here and you'll see a wide variety of styles. The lots are also larger than the average
home in Honolulu, so many have not just a lawn but elements like palm trees accenting their residence. When you have the room, why not use it?
The higher elevation means the temperatures are lower, so expect a cooler daytime to go along with the tropical evenings we all love. For those who like those evenings peaceful, it's difficult to up here.
Kamehame Ridge homes for sale generally start in the high six figures, most in the seven these days. For many, it's worth it to come up this hillside and know what's waiting for them at the end of the drive. It's very hard to put a price on that.
