The Haiku neighborhoods of Kaneohe are some of those hidden gems that non-residents know little about. That's surprising because the real estate here is truly prime. Flourishing green spaces, homes with beautiful views and the kinds of room that make buyers' eyes light up. It's time you knew more about these Windward Oahu communities and, luckily, we're here to help.
Haiku Village Created like the most of the Haiku areas in the initial years of the 1970's, Haiku Village is primarily made up of townhome communities.
The most prominent is
Haiku Gardens, a complex with a protective canopy of trees over it that keeps things cooler. The 115 homes have layouts of 1BR/1.5BA (944 sq ft), 2BR/2BA (1,075 sq ft), 2BR/2.5BA (1,075 or 1,079 sq ft), 3BR/2.5BA (1,394 or 1,539 sq ft) and 4BR/2.5BA (1,590 sq ft).
Haiku Villa makes up the other major section, another townhome complex with roomy spaces of its own. Their lineup includes 2BR (1,080 sq ft), 3BR (1,344 sq ft) and 4BR (2,005 sq ft).
Haiku Park If you need something a little larger, Haiku Park is where you should be looking. The single family home neighborhood boasts houses that regularly exceed 2,300 sq ft and the lots take that even further, often reaching 7,500 sq ft and more. Sometimes much more.
Most homes come from the early 1970's, with some more recent structures sprinkled in the mix. Despite the larger interiors, you shouldn't be surprised to find it all on just one floor. Two stories are common, but the preference seems to be the ranch style that Islanders love.
The large lots and low heights of the residences are keep the horizons open wide, inviting in the emerald Koolaus to your home.
Haiku Knolls Haiku Knolls follows much of the blueprint of Haiku Park, but it's a product of a later time, the homes added mainly in the early to mid 1980's. This may be the 'baby' of the neighborhoods covered here, but the homes are just as large as the others.
The houses generally span from 1,560 to over 3,000 sq ft indoors. What's astonishing are the lots that can go from about 7,500 to as much as 42,000 sq ft!
Haiku Plantation This residential area is a mix of townhomes and a few spectacular single family homes. The townhomes are found in the
Eden at Haiku Woods and provide very impressive layouts. The choices are made up of 2BR/2BA (1170 or 1186 sq ft), 3BR/2BA (1,385, 1,452 or 1,507 sq ft). Walk outdoors and you'll stand on a very large lanai, beginning at 120 sq ft, with some taking up 370 sq ft!
The houses are even more impressive, many enclosing 3,500 to over 5,000 sq ft inside. Even that fact pales, though, compared to the views some have that go all the way out to the ocean.
Some might call these areas almost a Garden of Eden, so green & flourishing is the world inside this district. Come here to revel in the Hawaii that you thought only existed in the past. You'll find it alive and well, right here, right now.
