The Alexander is located just past H1's run through the Makiki/Punahou neighborhood on the mauka side. In fact, it's one block from home to the on-ramp heading west. If you don't see why that's a huge advantage, pay close attention to the time and stress of your next trip to your current on-ramp option.
There are buildings even closer to the highway, but you are blessed doubly by being a little further away. You're close enough to be on your way in seconds, but far enough that the noise doesn't reach you so much.
The busy main artery you live by is countered with the low-rise, elegant neighborhood that offers beautiful shade trees, Maryknoll and Punahou Schools and quaint stone churches along its streets. It's a historic community, wonderful for walking, with more than a few of the old Kamaaina homes still standing.
Strolling will also get you to Makiki District Park, where you can relax or play as the mood requires.
The residences in the Alexander are all 1BR/1BA, with layouts of 541 to 631 sq ft. Though not huge, they do stand out as larger than a good percentage of 1BR
Honolulu condos you'll find in the listings. Some of the floor plans even include a den in the bargain.
You also have a lanai, though owners have enclosed them in certain cases. Regardless, you still have views of Diamond Head, the city lights and the Koolau Mountains to take in, whether its open or not.
Commuting Downtown is taken care of by the highway, but you're also midway between McCully and Punahou Street. The first is a straight shot into Waikiki, with McCully Shopping Center on the way. The second takes you to Beretania St, where you can choose from Foodland, Times and Safeway within a mere few blocks, or take a quick left on Keeaumoku St to Wal-Mart and Ala Moana Center.
