We'll bet you're like a lot of other Waikiki condo buyers who love all the recreation and pau hana possibilities of Waikiki, but don't necessarily want to live surrounded by all the activity and noise that comes with it. We've found the answer to that problem in a place called Hale O Naia.

You have to seek this building out to come across it in the northeastern corner of the district. It's street, Ainakea Way, only runs from Ala Wai Blvd down a couple of blocks where it starts at a hard left turn off a side street, so no through traffic gets here. Even the little that might somehow is kept to a minimum by the fact that Ainakea is one-way, headed toward the Ala Wai.

That hard turn that creates Ainakea happens because of Jefferson Elementary's campus that takes up not only the area south of that junction, but also the entire opposite side of the street from your home. It's an open cushion that will be there for some time, if not forever. With the Honolulu Zoo and then Kapiolani Park succeeding it in that direction, you have just about the most open vista in Waikiki that's not directly on the ocean.

That vista is part of the perks from these units that have layouts of 2BR/1BA (774 to 777 sq ft), 2BR/2BA (1161 sq ft) and 3BR/2BA (1161 or 1165 sq ft). Lanais can be counted on to give you a nice space to unwind on, promising 115 to 190 sq ft there.

The views around you can take in all the beauty of the Zoo's thick green cover and Kapiolani's open green fields, but also Diamond Head's crown and the slopes heading down from it toward the Pacific.

You can walk leisurely down to the beach and take on the waves, get something to eat at one of the many, many restaurants, go shopping on the Golden Mile or just enjoy people watching. It's an exciting place to live and when you're ready to take it down a little, you can just go home to the peace of Hale O Naia.
