About Kailua Town
Kailua is a charming beach town on the lush Windward side of Oahu, and Kailua Town is at its center! Kailua is loved by visitors and locals alike for its laid-back vibe, relaxed pace of life, and breathtaking natural beauty of the ocean and mountains that surround it. Two world-famous beaches can be found right here – Kailua Beach and Lanikai – famous for their soft, white sand and crystal blue water. The Koolau Mountains rise up a short distance away, their green, almost vertical ridges are impossible to ignore from any vantage point in Kailua. Top that off with an incredibly temperate climate and cooling trade winds that bring rain throughout the year to keep things green and lush, and it’s easy to understand why Kailua is considered paradise.

While the pace of life here is considerably slower than it is over the mountain in Honolulu, there is plenty going on in Kailua, and much of it happens in Kailua Town. Kailua Town is the town center and its business district. A number of small shopping centers line the roads in Kailua Town, home to grocery stores, coffee shops, boutiques catering to a beach-chic lifestyle, surf shops, and restaurants. Big name retail stores like Macy’s, Safeway and Whole Foods, are intermixed with family owned and operated shops that have been there for decades. The dining scene in Kailua Town is similar. A few national chain restaurants neighbor mom-and-pop bakeries and a variety of locally-owned restaurants serving everything from pizza to salads to Thai food to amazing locally-sourced dishes. Whatever you need, you can find here. If you want something bigger or fancier, you’ll have to drive to town. The mixture of businesses suits Kailua, whose residents are stylish but casual, well-off but unassuming, active but love a good meal.

Because it’s the commercial center of town, real estate in Kailua Town is primarily condos in a number of different building types. There are high rise buildings, that offer views of the ocean from the higher floors, two and three story buildings spread over tropical, green landscaping,  and condos placed above shops and offices. The majority of Kailua Town condos are located on Aoloa Street, behind the Safeway supermarket. Other condos are a few blocks north. No matter where you live in Kailua Town though, you’ll be within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants, grocery stores, banks, and coffee shops. Kailua District Park is right in town, with an outdoor lap pool, tennis courts, basketball courst and softball fields. And Kailua Beach Park is just a half mile away.

There is an elementary school and a middle school right next to Kailua Town as well, located on either side of the district park. From Kailua town, it’s just a short walk or bike ride to school. Additional elementary, middle and high schools are located in other Kailua neighborhoods. The Kailua Library is also on the edge of the district park, next to the fire and police stations.

Kailua town condos are perfect options for anyone who wants to have a beach town lifestyle but also wants to be close to the action in the center of town.
