Amana St is a very minor part of the map of Honolulu, lasting only one block that bridges Kanunu and Makaloa Streets in the Holiday Mart neighborhood. A short road, but it has a long list of perks for those who live on it.
Before venturing out, a look inside the Pacific Grand needs to be done. This large Honolulu condo has 374 residences inside it, all Studio/1BA layouts with either 401 or 448 sq ft interiors.
What's unusual is that the 2 floor plans differ solely on the basis of whether they have a lanai, which provides 47 sq ft outside, or not. If they don't, that same 47 sq ft is, and always has been, interior space. Lanai? 401 sq ft. No lanai? 448 sq ft.
In both cases you have views of the city, which lights up each evening, and, if you're high enough up, even a vista of the ocean waves coming into our Island.
The Pacific Grand's ground level has benefits too, the lowest floor containing shops, including a restaurant or 2, and even a convenience store. Things really take off, though, if you walk outside the building.
One block from you, depending on the direction, you can be at Don Quijote, Ross, WalMart or Pagoda Restaurant. That same block or so gets you to Kapiolani Blvd or Keeaumoku St, both lined with dining choices you've heard about and shops, too, like Walgreens.
Add 1 more block to your stroll and you're standing in the largest outdoor mall in the world, Ala Moana Center. A never ending source of shopping, eateries and entertainment, not counting some of the best people watching in Hawaii.
Downtown commuters get the Kapiolani and King/Beretania routes that go directly there. As you've probably guessed, those well-trafficked arteries also have bus stops near you and you'll find more on Keeaumoku St.
With Ala Moana Beach Park just beyond the similarly named mall, you've got the topper on an already attractive list of possibilities from living at the Pacific Grand. You're right in the center of things on Amana Street, the short road with limitless options.
