About Keolu Hills
Keolu Hills is a neighborhood in the Enchanted Lake section of Kailua, appropriately named as  it’s on the hills that rise behind Lanikai. The base of the neighborhood is bordered by Keolu Drive and it extends to the top of the hills. Homes near the top of the neighborhood enjoy wonderful views of Mount Olomana, the ocean and coastline, and the city below. Residents of Keolu Hills are just minutes away from Enchanted Lake Shopping Center on Keolu Drive, a five minute drive to the restaurants and shopping in popular Kailua Town, and a 5-10 minute drive  to Kailua Beach Park and Lanikai. Schools and parks are just minutes away, which makes Keolu Hills a great place to raise a family.

The neighborhood began development in the 1950s and many of Keolu Hills’ original homes were built in the late ‘50s and ‘60s. The original homes were bungalow and plantation style houses, but many have been remodelled, renovated, expanded or completely torn down. Today the standard Keolu Hills home has 3 or 4 bedrooms and 1,000 - 1,800 sq ft of living space. The larger homes tend newer or renovated and most are found towards the top of the hill, featuring as many as 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and 5,000 sq ft. The renovated and more recently built homes have roomy, open floor plans that allow natural light to shine in and trade winds to blow through. Homes that have not been remodelled may need some work, but they also come with a lower price tag for buyers who have the time and inclination to remodel.

Lot sizes in Keolu Hills are on the smaller side, with the majority in the 5,000 - 7,000 sq ft range. There are some larger lots though, offering around 10,000 sq ft. Some yards feature nice landscaping, gardens and tropical vegetation. Few homes have a pool or jacuzzi because there’s just not enough room.

Keolu Hills is a great neighborhood for young professionals, growing families, empty-nesters and multi-generational families, as well as those looking for an investment property. There are lovely new and renovated homes for those who want a move-in ready property, and the “fixer-uppers” offer value in highly-desirable Kailua. Homes in Keolu Hills have the variety to accommodate the needs of an individual or family. The close proximity to this coastal town’s shops, restaurants and famous beaches makes Keolu Hills even more enticing!
