Lilipuna lies across Kamehameha Highway from Windward Mall, taking up the lands on its namesake, Lilipuna Point. Many know it as being the part of Windward Oahu closest to Coconut Island. Famous as being 'Gilligan's Island' from the tv show, Coconut Island is now a UH Research Center, providing a preserved tropical isle to the view of many residences here.

This is another Kaneohe community that can trace its beginnings to the 1950's, a time when commuting to Honolulu became routine with the new Pali Tunnel and the population began a post-war surge.

Lilipuna followed the pattern of much of the other communities in the town that started to fill in at this time, then added more residences in the coming decades. Those lots come in many sizes, from a low of a little over 3,200 sq ft to as much as 33,000 on the oceanfront luxury homes.

As you can imagine, those homes along the ocean also tend to have larger interiors, with over 8,000 or 9,000 sq ft in certain residences. Wherever you're looking in Lilipuna, you can count on over 1,000 sq ft at a minimum, with most ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 on average. These are family sized homes.

IN DEMAND CONDO / TOWNHOUSE COMMUNITIES
Most of this area consists of those single family homes, but there are two significant townhome / condo communities that are very popular. For many they are the right choice for their lifestyle.

Poha Kea Point (Built 1986 - 1990)
Poha Kea Point, found toward the northern side of Lilipuna, has 255 units total, 131 of them in what's called Poha Kea Point 3 and 124 in Poha Kea 4. Residents of these townhome style condos have numerous recreation options, including a pool, exercise room, jogging/walking path and tennis courts.
They also enjoy views of the mountains and the ocean from their homes, depending on where they are in the complex.

Residences fall into 4 floor plans, outlined below with measurements that include their lanais:
Lehua – 2BR/2BA, Dual Level (961 sq ft)
Birchwood – 2BR/2BA, Single Level (1017 sq ft)

Summit at Kaneohe Bay (Built 1994)
Located downhill from Poha Kea, Summit at Kaneohe Bay is a gated community with 31 houses collected under a Condominium Property Regime (CPR). Along with the restricted entrance, all homes are on just one fishhook shaped road that dead ends, safeguarding your residence from traffic noise and providing greater security and privacy.

These are large, 2 story homes, consisting entirely of 3BRs and 2.5BAs, but differing layouts of 1595, 1615, 1632, 1827, 1835, 2016 and 2323 sq ft. From top to bottom, these are roomy spaces.

Despite being in a central area of the neighborhood, certain homeowners can look out to the ocean, as well as to the mountains and city.
