Luna Kai, one of Hawaii Kai’s residential marina front neighborhoods, consists of two separate and distinctively different sections along the most southern portion of the Hawaii Kai Marina.

Both sections of the Luna Kai subdivision are located immediately adjacent to the west and east of the Koko Marina Shopping Center:

1. Luna Kai along Kalanianaole Hwy, just west of the shopping center, includes a total of 31 homes, all located directly along the marina including all even street numbers between 6908 and 7104 Kalanianaole Hwy.  


2. Luna Kai along Kaumakani St, just east of the shopping center, includes all homes between 603 and 696 Kaumakani St, all even street numbers between 274 and 398 Lunalilo Home Rd, all homes between 157 and 193 Anapalau St, all of Anapalau Pl, Kikoo Pl, Oomano Pl and Waiopouli Pl.  Only 24 of these homes, about 20%, are located directly on the marina.


Insight to Luna Kai Homes & Neighborhood
Many of the Luna Kai homes along Kalanianaole Hwy were custom built between 1963 and 1967. These homes are set back a distance from busy Kalanianaole Hwy and accessible via short private driveways shared among 4 marina front homes respectively.
The most north-western driveway is the exception, servicing only 3 marina front homes.

The shared private driveways are maintained by their respective 4 (or 3) neighbors and offer a buffer distance from the noisy road while providing ample additional car or boat parking for their residents. Most of the Luna Kai lots along Kalanianaole Hwy range between 8,125 and 9,900 sqft, that is excluding the additional shared parking / driveway area in front.  

The Luna Kai homes along Kalanianaole Hwy enjoy some of the finest wide marina views in Hawaii Kai.  The homes are naturally cooled by Hawaii’s prevailing tradewinds 80% of the time blowing from the north east, ..the long way over the marina.  At times the wind can be strong in this location.

The last few remaining vacant lots were developed in more recent years, including two modern 2-story homes at 6908 and 6910 Kalanianaole Hwy, also referred to as ‘The Pointe’ of Luna Kai, developed in 1998 by custom home builder Don Eovino.

6908 Kalanianaole Hwy in particular is unique due to its 11,105 sqft oversize lot at the very tip of the Luna Kai neighborhood. This home features an impressive marina front lap pool and offers water views in multiple directions. The home sold most recently for $2.68Mill in Sept 2015.

The highest recorded sale for the neighborhood was $3.2Mill in May 2014, a custom built 2010 modern 2-story home located at 7096 Kalanianaole Hwy.

The Luna Kai homes east of the close by Koko Marina Shopping Center, along and in between Kaumakani St and Lunalilo Home Rd, were all originally designed as single level homes, built between 1966 and 1969. Most of them feature more modest lot sizes between 6,500 and 7,500 sqft.  Very few larger pie shape lots are the exception at the turnaround in the Anapalau Pl cul-de-sac.

All homes directly on the Hawaii Kai Marina are subject to a $400 /year (2016) Hawaii Kai Marina association fee.
